William H. Harsha Bridge (US 62, US 68)
The William H. Harsha Bridge carries U.S. Route 62 and 68 over the Ohio River between a location west of Maysville, Kentucky to Aberdeen, Ohio.Planning for the Harsha Bridge began in the early 1990s, and by 1996, two alternatives were narrowed down that involved a cable-stayed design over the Ohio River. One involved a steel and concrete composite deck, while the other was a cast-in-place concrete deck. Both alternatives were bidded upon and the composite deck was more favored due to its lower price.
Construction began on the span on April 10, 1997 and the last cable strung was on May 12, 2000. The span was fully completed on October 9, 2000, and was Kentucky's first cable-stayed bridge.
The bridge was named after the retired Ohio Congressman William H. Harsha.
